Les Amis: A Female Event Community that came to life

This company has been created to bring together women to build lasting friendships in the city of Barcelona.

The company Les Amis was born in January 2022 and was founded by Anna Bilych. After changing countries more than twice, she realized that it's always a challenge to find friends in new cities, especially Barcelona. She tried using apps like Bumble BFF and Meetup, but it didn't work for her. Bilych felt the great importance of having a strong and lasting circle of female friendships by her side, so she decided to go for it.

During her career at Paypal, men would emphasize to her, 'If you have a great female circle around you, you can achieve much more,' she said. It all began through an Instagram account with aesthetically pleasing photo posts and the concept of staying in a small, women-only group where she announced the idea of her events.

Les Amis truly believes that friends can't be chosen with swipes like on Bumble BFF. Friendships aren't chosen based on appearance, and it's difficult to make friends one-on-one because someone always feels uncomfortable.

So, what she wanted to do was bring together women with similar interests and organize a unique activity for them, such as ceramics classes, gastronomy, and more. The most important thing of all was to skip the small talk, or in other words, the little chat that happens at the beginning of every conversation.

The first event they had was making a wreath. The wreath is a variety of flowers, leaves, fruits, twigs, or various materials that are constructed to form a circle and placed at the entrance of doors during Christmas.

In addition, she also mentors girls who are at the beginning of their professional careers due to her background in technology. And this year, there are already more than 300 women subscribed and receiving her mentorship. The ultimate idea is to grow together personally and professionally. Bilych asserts that in a short time, she managed to build a family of friends in Barcelona.

Apart from the company, the girls became so close that they invite each other to weddings, trips to Thailand, and more. Last Monday, the cyanotype event on a tote bag took place with the Argentine artist Anita Cortes.
